Three Putters, One Winner: My Honest Take

I’ve been gaming a blade putter for years, so when I got the chance to test the TaylorMade Spider ZT, Scotty Cameron B3 Black Santa Fe, and Odyssey Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Tri-Hot Rossi, I was curious to see if any of them could actually earn a spot in the bag.
Scotty Cameron B3 Black Santa Fe
Let’s start with the putter I wanted to love.
The Scotty Cameron B3 Black Santa Fe is absolutely gorgeous. The black finish, clean lines, and classic blade shape make it one of the best-looking putters I’ve ever held. If putters were judged on appearance alone, this one wins.
The feel is excellent and exactly what you’d expect from a premium Scotty Cameron. That said, I didn’t perform as well with it as I did with the other two putters, especially inside 10 feet where it matters most. At $799, I needed the performance to match the price tag, and for me it simply didn’t.
Odyssey Square 2 Square Tri-Hot Rossi
The Odyssey was probably the biggest surprise of the group.
I really liked the feel off the face. It rolled the ball well and inspired confidence over longer putts. Performance-wise, it was right there with the best of them.
My only issue was the look. The black and red color scheme just never clicked with my eye. There’s nothing wrong with it, but every time I looked down at address, I wasn’t excited about what I was seeing. For some golfers that won’t matter at all, but for me, confidence starts with liking what I’m looking at.
TaylorMade Spider ZT
This was the unexpected winner.
I’ll be honest—the feel was my least favorite of the three when I first started testing it. Coming from a blade putter, it took a handful of putts to adjust. But once I got comfortable, the results were impossible to ignore.
Inside 10 feet, this thing was automatic. The face simply doesn’t want to move, and that stability showed up immediately in my start lines and consistency. While the feel wasn’t as soft or refined as the Scotty or Odyssey, the performance more than made up for it.
The look is sleek, the black shaft is a nice touch, and the blue headcover gets plenty of comments when it’s sitting in the cart or on the practice green.
Final Verdict
All three putters are excellent and I could see golfers having success with any of them.
The Scotty Cameron was the best-looking putter of the bunch, but I couldn’t justify the price given my results. The Odyssey felt fantastic but never won me over visually.
The TaylorMade Spider ZT wasn’t my favorite on looks or feel at first, but it produced the best results where it mattered most—inside 10 feet. In the end, performance wins.
The Spider ZT earned its place in the bag, and it’s the putter I’ll be rolling with this season
